I don’t know how many of you may have seen this musical with Gene Kelly, it’s basically a village that comes to life every 100 years for one day only thus avoiding being touched by the outside world.

This is often how i feel living on the Ratby Lane side of the roundabout. Unless you drive it is made difficult to get out of the village, sometimes it’s difficult when you do drive. Every weekday morning my daughter practically dices with death attempting to cross the Ratby Lane to catch the bus to school, also because Kirby is used as a rat/run to get on the motorway, the only way to get out by car is to indicate right and hope that some kind person will let you out, God forbid you might go the same way as them and delay them by 1 car length. It is made doubly worrse by the evergrowing vegetation on the roundabout that obscures your view, it may not seem much of a problem solver, but if you could see when a vehicle entered the small roundabout from opposite it would allow that small window of opportunity to make a break for it.

They are the difficulties incurred when trying to leave by foot or car in the morning, believe me it gets worse when you try to catch a bus. Mon-Sat it is like they appear like Brigadoon and never on a Sunday. Yes you can catch a bus from the other end of thevillage but if you are elderly or infirm it makes the journey out even more arduous.

I appreciate the levels of cost that maybe incurred and the need to keep these spiraling costs down to benefit other areas of the community, but please, pleas, please just occasionally can you remember that we too at the Brigadoon end of the village might once in a while be considered too.
