Choked by Charity

My hallway floor has a number of charity bags scattered on it, perhaps yours does too no doubt. Do you support a charity and if so which one? how do you choose when we are inundated with so many bags, letters to home owners, e-mails and knocks on the door.

I believe the charity chooses us, either by way of what effects us most that gives us the passion to make it better, what fears us the most or even what triggers the most guilt.

I understand that a charitable organisation has to try and shout the loudest in order to be heard, but i feel it is a little intrusive when they knock on your door of an evening. This time it was the R.S.P.C.A. which i found quite odd as i have not observed this particular charity taking this approach before. There was a number of them making themselves known in the village and at first glance i thought they may have been Jehovah Witnesses due to the number of them and the time of year.

I actually donate to a number of charities each month as i have been on the receiving end when i needed it most, but i do not like having to open doors to them requesting financial aid, mainly because i would give away everything rather than turn someone away that has asked for help.

I wish that there was no need for charity and that the government or lottery gains were a little more supportive than they are, there should be no need to ask, should there? or is this just me?

I think that everyone should use GiftAid for charity donations, because it then comes from your gross pay (i.e. before tax is deducted) rather than your net pay.
