Kirby House

April 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Kirby House is one of six care homes in Leicestershire to be privatised. Labelled as a “growing concern”, the residents and staff are waiting to see who will win the bid to reshape them.

As “growing concern” generally means the business is no longer financially viable and making a loss, the new owner will no doubt want to shake it up. Despite the fact that the council say that the staff and residents will be able to remain, it goes without saying that any change be it big or small can create unforeseen consequences and is not always welcomed or initially viewed as beneficial.

As food for thought, if the home is to be sold on and the council will save money, where will it go? Will it be siphoned back to our community or another? and will we get a say?

If you are or will be effected by the sale of Kirby house, as a member of the staff, a resident or if you have a relative being cared for there, let us know your views. What would you like to see the council spend the excess funds on?
