” no way out”

August 29th, 2008 · No Comments

Back in January this year i posted “Brigadoon”, this was a Scottish Highland village that appeared once every hundred years so avoiding being touched by the outside world. I commented that i felt as if i lived in Brigadoon at the Ratby end of the village because we so often get neglected, especially with means of getting out.

It was noted then that it seemed that a bus only passed through if it was detoured and lost. Well now it is official. I was informed by a pensioner who resides on the small estate off the Glenfield Lane, that on arrival at the bus stop she observed that the bus timetable had been ripped down. On the offchance that it had been taken down by vandals she waited for the bus. 20 minutes after the arrival time she left, contacted the County Council just to be told that the service had now been taken over by Robinsons Coaches. Not only this but that the buses would only provide a service hourly from 9.45 am - 13.45 to Leicester and 10.15am - 14.15 to Kirby, 5 ****** buses a day……..5.

So, if your elderly, disabled or a non-driver or car owner it seems we are under curfew, well thank you very very much. I suppose someone is now going to say that if the Parish Council meeting were attended and the subject broached something could be done, my a*** could it or would it, if the council were that concerned a notice or two would not have gone amiss.
