Surely the Council can see that this just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, or are they blind to our community needs? answer, i think they are blind!
To close this car-park would create problems and not solve any at all. Lets weigh it up.
* No parking for residents that is already limited.
* No parking for local businesses
* No parking for the school
The latter creates even further issues, extra traffic dropping off and collecting children from the primary school which is already hazardous for the children and residents. People will park in other roads such as Church Road, Barwell Road and Oakcrost, these roads already cause the residents and public major concerns, trying to travel these roads at prime school times is chaotic and dangerous.
Also the school is a huge part of this community, not only as a provider of excellent education for our children but as a continuing and stable venue for community events such as firework night, craft fayres, and fund raising events for the place we live in.
What also needs to be considered is that if the land is used for housing developement, which is the proposal….. that imore than likely means more children for the schools and more traffic. Does the small benefit of a couple of houses out-weigh the colossal losses elsewhere, I for one do not believe so.
