A public meeting has been organised on Tuesday the 20th of January in the Village Hall to discuss new housing proposals. Blaby District Council is currently considering the options for 3,500 further houses, of which one site is on the A47 Hinkley Road  west of Kirby Muxloe. It is suggested that the population of Kirby could increse by up to 16,000 people.

I’m not entirely sure how this will make us a town exactly, i was under the assumption that the urban area that includes the golf course is defined as Leicester Forest East. The concerns highlighted by the Parish Council are:

Possible gridlock on the A47, air, noise and light pollution; even flooding. In addition there will be loss of playing fields and, countryside and wildlife, also  a high demand on schools and local services.

So, where does your opinion lie? The Council are hoping for support against these roposals. My guess is that the voice will be strong but will it be in vain regardless!
